The HP 49G+ Graphing Calculator is brought to you by Hewlett-Packard (HP) a major technology corporation based in the US.
This is a powerful calculator that is RPN capable and supports over 2300 hundred different functions for statistical, algebra, probability and financial calculations.
Features
The calculator has a high-contrast screen that is 9 lines by 33 characters. The crisp high contrast screen is able to display the results of the inbuilt 3D-Graphing and 2D & 3D plotting very clearly.
The calculator has 1.3 MB of storage available to the end-user for running programs. It also support an industry standard SD card for further expansion. The SD card can be used for storage of external or third party applications, games and software.
It is fully Reverse Polish Notation (RPN) capable and is a favorite amongst RPN enthusiasts. It also supports textbook and algebraic modes of input. Most advanced users will agree that RPN may take a little while to get used to, but it pays in the long run. If you are a beginner than you can always use the algebraic or textbook modes, although practicing RPN is highly recommended.
The 49G+ supports assembly, HP-Basic and RPN based programming languages to extend its functionality even further. It has the popular Computer Algebra System that has been a feature on other HP models. This feature allows the user to perform complex symbolic algebraic manipulations on the calculator in a step-by-step.
The 49G+ is capable of communicating with your PC / MAC, another compatible HP calculator or even an overhead projector
Summary
The 49G+ is an enhancement of the 49G and was introduced by HP in 2003. It has a distinctive look and appeal about it. The two major pluses are the industry standard SD card and Flash ROM for future upgrades.
Retaining the functionality of the 49G and adding extras, this calculator is meant for professional users and students of engineering, computer science and math.
Although the keys in this calculator are better than that of the 49G, it is not comparable with the quality of the keys in earlier HP models. Documentation still remains a sore point, but thankfully there is a lot of down-loadable guides and information to help the new user.
